Scouting is built on hands-on learning, and our youth rely on the Mashpee community to help them explore new careers, trades, and lifelong hobbies. You do not need to have a child in the program to volunteer. We are actively looking for local professionals, tradespeople, and skilled hobbyists willing to share their knowledge with Troop 36.
This is a high-impact way to mentor youth without committing to weekly meetings. Merit Badge Counselors teach specific subjects—anything from plumbing and carpentry to environmental science, civics, and digital technology. You provide the real-world expertise, and you set your own schedule for when you are available to work with the Scouts.

If you own a local business, manage a municipal facility, or run a specialized shop, hosting the troop for an evening tour is an excellent way to introduce youth to local industries and civic operations .
To maintain a secure environment, all adult volunteers who work directly with our youth must register with Scouting America, pass a background check, and complete our standard Youth Protection Training. We handle the administrative steps so you can focus on the mentorship.
